In 1994, Newcomer's was formed by Jim Naylor, a long time resident of Lee's
Summit. Jim was very active in the local chapter of ASHI, serving on the
Board of Directors and even a term as president.
In 2003, Randy Adams purchased the business when Jim prepared to retire.
Jim stayed on for two years before retiring in 2005. The first two years of
Randy's ownership were much like an apprenticeship. Randy spent the first
six months following Jim on inspections and soaking up his knowledge. For
the next six months and until retirement, Jim would follow Randy and then
critique his reports upon completion. Jim was a tremendous mentor in the
business.
Before becoming an inspector, Randy spent 20 years doing light construction
and also working in sales positions in corporate America. When he took over
Newcomer's, he had the vision of how to treat customers properly. At
Newcomer's we treat every house as though we were inspecting it to live in
ourselves. We inspect the house for your Peace of Mind. Randy is a Certified
Inspector with the American Society of Home Inspectors. He is also the
current local ASHI chapter President Elect and past Treasurer and
Membership Coordinator. Randy received his home inspection training from
the American Home Inspectors Institute. Randy thoroughly enjoys meeting
people everyday and is anxiously awaiting to do your home inspection.
Sonya Adams Koss is the friendly voice that you will hear when you call either
number. Sonya spent many years in customer service for Kansas City Life
Insurance Company. She joined Newcomer's in early 2007 and has been an
asset to the company in managing the office and keeping Randy going in the
